Profound alternatives

The best alternatives to Profound, compared.

Updated August 2026

Every tool here is assessed against the same criteria, scored before any commercial conversation. Read the full method. No entry on this list is a paid placement.

People search for this for one of five reasons, and which one you have decides the answer.

The published $99 plan watches ChatGPT alone with a single seat. The plan most teams actually need is Growth at $399, covering three engines and three seats. Programmatic access is on neither published tier. The nine-engine ceiling, the API and single sign-on all belong to Enterprise, which publishes no figure. And a fourth person on your team means a plan change.

Start with the one thing nothing here replaces. Profound connects to your CDN and reads AI crawler and agent traffic arriving at your own servers. Every other tool on this list, without exception, samples answers and infers reach from them. If your reason for looking is that you need to show arrivals rather than mentions, no alternative below does that, and the honest advice is to negotiate Profound's price rather than replace it.

If your reason is any of the other four, this list is straightforward, and several of these beat Profound on the exact thing that sent you looking.

How this list was built

Six criteria, the same six behind every SaaSInsight ranking, weighted as on our best AEO tools page so the two stay comparable. Full definitions are at /methodology.

  • Specialisation and fit · 25 · Purpose-built tracker, or AEO added to an existing SEO platform
  • Commercial transparency · 25 · Whether you can find out what it costs without a sales call
  • Client evidence · 20 · Named customers and case studies the vendor will stand behind
  • Documented outcomes · 15 · Where the data comes from, and whether the vendor says
  • Independent recognition · 10 · Third-party reviews and coverage
  • Tenure · 5 · How long it has been shipping

Which Profound limit sent you here

  • The $399 for three engines. Scrunch AI includes all seven of its engines on the entry plan at $250. Peec AI is $80 for three of six
  • The single seat. Peec AI has unlimited users on every tier including the $80 one. Profound gives you one seat at $99 and three at $399
  • No API below Enterprise. Peec ships an MCP server on every plan. Ahrefs lists API access from its $129 tier
  • Enterprise has no published price. Conductor and Omnibound will not publish one either. Scrunch AI, Peec AI, Writesonic, Otterly.AI and AIclicks all will
  • You want tracking plus content production. Writesonic and AIclicks do both in one subscription. Profound does optimisation but not generation

One thing true of all of them

Every tool here samples rather than observes. Each sends your prompts to the AI engines on a schedule and records the replies, so two tools pointed at the same brand will disagree, sometimes considerably. That is a property of the method rather than a defect in any one product, and it is the reason Profound's server-side measurement is worth its price to the buyers who need it. Run whichever you pick for a full month before drawing conclusions, and keep the prompt set identical if you trial two side by side.

All prices read off vendor pages, most recently on 24 August 2026.

Scrunch AI

3.5 / 5

Persona-based AI visibility monitoring with page-level audits, for teams tracking how different buyer types get answered.

Where it falls short: At $250 a month billed annually it is the most expensive tool here that publishes a price, so it replaces Profound's capability without replacing its cost.

Peec AI

3.5 / 5

AI search analytics for marketing teams, tracking brand visibility, position and sentiment across answer engines.

Where it falls short: Three of six models are included at every self-serve tier and extras run $30 to $140 each per month, so the full set at entry level is nearer $170 than $80.

3Conductor logo

Conductor

An enterprise SEO platform that added AEO reporting, sold on a usage-based model rather than per seat.

Where it falls short: Usage-based and sales-led, with no figures published at any tier, so you cannot compare it against Profound Enterprise without running two sales processes at once.

4Omnibound logo

Omnibound

2.5 / 5

AI search visibility tied to pipeline, joining citation tracking to CRM and analytics data for B2B teams.

Where it falls short: Demo-led with no published figures and no tier structure, and the vendor describes its own pricing as custom, so budgeting means a call before you learn anything.

Writesonic

3.0 / 5

An AI writing tool that pivoted into AEO, bundling prompt tracking and agentic optimisation with article generation.

Where it falls short: Engine coverage is three below Enterprise and ten on it, so the same tier gating that sent you away from Profound exists here, just at a lower price.

4.0 / 5

The cheapest credible entry point into AI visibility tracking, with unlimited team members on every plan.

7AIclicks logo

AIclicks

3.5 / 5

Prompt tracking plus AI-optimised article generation on one subscription, priced for solo operators and small teams.

Where it falls short: The free trial runs three days, the shortest here, which is not long enough to judge a category where readings are noisy and the trend over weeks is the signal.

8Semrush AI Toolkit logo

Semrush AI Toolkit

Semrush's AI visibility tracking, no longer sold separately — prompt tracking is now bundled into the main Semrush plans and scales by tier.

Where it falls short: It needs a Semrush subscription from $165.17 a month, and the pricing page never states how many platforms a tracked prompt covers, so the allowance cannot be compared with anyone else's before you buy.

9Ahrefs Brand Radar logo

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs' AI visibility tracker, sold both inside every Ahrefs plan with a token prompt allowance and as a standalone product that needs no paid Ahrefs plan.

Where it falls short: The tracked prompt allowance included with a plan is 5, 10 or 20, so real tracking means a package from $50 a month on top of a plan from $129, or the standalone product at $199.

Match the tool to the constraint that sent you looking, not to the highest rank.

You need every engine covered without a plan change. Scrunch AI. Seven engines on the entry plan at $250, where Profound gives you three at $399, and it is the only swap that increases coverage while cutting the bill.

You need more than three people to see the data. Peec AI. Unlimited seats on every tier, including the $80 one. This is the single most common reason teams outgrow Profound Growth, and it is the cheapest thing to fix.

You need the numbers in your own systems. Peec AI again, for its MCP server on every plan, or Ahrefs if you are already inside it. Profound offers no programmatic access on either published tier, so this constraint has no in-house solution short of Enterprise.

You are replacing Profound but not the procurement process. Conductor or Omnibound. Both expect a sales cycle and neither will publish a price, so you are trading one quote for another, and should run them against Profound Enterprise rather than against this list.

You want tracking and content production on one invoice. Writesonic at $79 or AIclicks at $59.

You want to spend as little as possible while still learning something. Otterly.AI at $29.

You already pay Semrush or Ahrefs. Check what you own before buying anything. Semrush bundles 50 daily prompts into plans from $165.17. Ahrefs includes Brand Radar from $129 but only 5 tracked prompts, so budget a package on top.

You need to prove arrivals rather than mentions. Stay with Profound and negotiate. Nothing on this list reads traffic from your own servers, and buying a sampling tool to answer a server-log question will not work at any price.

Frequently asked questions

What is the closest direct replacement for Profound?

Scrunch AI. It targets the same buyer, publishes its price, and includes all seven of its engines on the $250 entry plan, where Profound gives you one engine at $99 and three at $399. If your complaint is that Profound gates coverage behind tiers, this is the swap that fixes it while lowering the bill. What you do not get is Profound's CDN connection, so if the reason you bought Profound was server-side measurement, Scrunch is not a replacement for that part.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Profound that is still credible?

Peec AI at $80 a month is the cheapest daily tracker we would recommend, and on seats it is not merely cheaper but structurally better: unlimited users on every tier against Profound's one seat at $99 and three at $399. Below that, Otterly.AI at $29 and AIclicks at $59 both answer the basic question of whether you are mentioned. The honest caveat on Peec is that three of six models are included and extras cost $30 to $140 each, so price the configuration you would actually run.

Why is Profound so expensive compared to these?

Two things, one of which is real. The real one is the second data source: connecting your CDN lets Profound read AI crawler and agent traffic hitting your own servers, which is a fundamentally different and stronger form of evidence than sampling answers, and nothing else on this list does it. The less defensible one is packaging. Engine coverage is gated harder than anywhere else, one then three then nine, and the tier holding the interesting capability publishes no price at all.

Which alternatives offer API or programmatic access?

Peec AI ships an MCP server on every tier including the $80 entry plan, with a documented API at Enterprise. Ahrefs lists API access and an MCP server from its $129 Lite plan, with uncapped API at Enterprise. Semrush includes MCP access from Starter and API data integration on its $455.67 Advanced plan. Profound offers programmatic access on neither published tier, so if this is your constraint, almost anything here improves on it.

Do any of these track AI traffic to my website like Profound does?

No, and it is worth being blunt about it because the marketing language across this category blurs the distinction. Every other tool here samples: it sends your prompts to the engines on a schedule and records what comes back, which tells you about visibility in answers. Profound's edge connections observe requests arriving at your infrastructure, which tells you about traffic. If you need the second, your options are Profound or your own server logs and analytics, not a different tracker.

I already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs. Do I need any of this?

Check before you buy, because one of these two probably covers you and the other probably does not. Semrush bundles daily prompt tracking into its plans, 50 a day from the $165.17 Starter tier, which is a workable tracker for one brand at no extra cost. Ahrefs includes Brand Radar from $129 but only 5 tracked prompts, rising to 20 on Advanced, so meaningful tracking means adding a prompt package from $50 a month. We compare the two in detail at [Semrush AI Toolkit vs Ahrefs Brand Radar](/compare/semrush-ai-toolkit-vs-ahrefs-brand-radar).

Can I trial these before committing?

Most of them, and the terms vary more than you would expect. Profound offers a free trial on Growth rather than on Starter, which is the right way round since Starter is not the plan anyone should judge it on. Scrunch AI runs seven days, Writesonic and Otterly.AI both offer trials, and AIclicks runs three days, the shortest here and not long enough to judge a category where single readings are noisy. Conductor and Omnibound are demo-led, so the trial is a sales conversation. AirOps, which is not ranked above, keeps a permanent free tier at 1,000 tasks a month if you want to look at this category without paying anything at all.

How does Profound compare to Peec AI specifically?

They are the two most commonly shortlisted against each other and the comparison is lopsided in both directions. Peec wins on price, seats, packaging and programmatic access: $80 against a realistic $399, unlimited users against three, and an MCP server on the entry plan. Profound wins on the two things that justify a premium, server-side measurement and a response time committed in writing. We have a full head-to-head at [Profound vs Peec AI](/compare/profound-vs-peec-ai).

What happens to our tracking history if we switch?

You start from zero, on every tool here. Prompt sets, historical readings and competitor baselines do not transfer between vendors, and no importer exists in either direction. Two practical consequences. First, getting your existing Profound data out means the interface rather than an export, because programmatic access is not on either published tier. Second, run the old and new tools in parallel for at least a month with an identical prompt set before you cancel. They will disagree, sometimes considerably, and you want to see the size of the gap while you can still compare them rather than discovering it afterwards.
